An incredible trip...Macao, China

Phew, it's been a while since I posted and for that I can only apologise. I haven't been too busy or anything nearly as exciting, I just sort of fell out of love with writing and felt that would come across if I scrambled to find anything to write about.

That aside, my holiday to Macao is something so exciting to me that I just have to tell you all about it!

It was only 4 nights away but it was an incredible trip.

Setting off from Gatwick on the Sunday, myself and the Bub travelled with Emirates over to Dubai for a short stop over. I've never flown with them before but the leg room was better than a lot of flights I've been on and the service was brilliant.

Although by the end of that flight, we were ready for the break. Both of us are pretty tall and sitting cramped up soon takes its toll.

Getting off at Dubai, it was the early hours of the morning, we mooched about and grabbed something to eat and then headed for the next flight.

This was a little more uncomfortable, we were ready to be at our destination and still had an 8 hour flight to go. We thought sleep would come, it did not. We were grouchy and sore and by the time the plane touched down in Hong Kong all we wanted to do was sleep but we needed to keep moving to get the ferry over to Macao.

Everything was seemless, we needed to pick up the tickets and the bags were already booked on and we just needed to pick them up at the final destination!

An hour's boat ride and we arrived at Macao ferry at about 6pm on the Monday. A short shuttle bus ride and we arrived at our hotel.

Walking into the cool air of the lobby we were greeted with the most amazing centre-piece which every half an hour did a little thing with music and lights. It was all very magical.

Following the sign posts to our hotel check in, we walked past designer shop after designer shop. It was incredible! We could see the casino in the centre and it was rammed.

After checking in we found out way up to the room and I cannot stress more - this was the most incredible room I have ever stayed in. It was a jaw dropping moment walking through the door. The view was incredible, looking out over the pools and the other buildings with a light show was just mesmerising, the bathroom was incredible, the bed was huge. I had to take a moment to take it all in.

We had an evening of mooching around and settling in before having an early night. We were shattered to say the least.

The next day, we woke up pretty late but felt refreshed. We'd missed breakfast so headed straight for the pool. Padding down, we found the hotel pool, and a bit further on we found the lazy river. We had a bit of a sunbathe then headed off in the search of food. A burger curbed out appetite and we hit the lazy river. Oh man, it was so...so...lazy.

After a day of lazing around we decided to sit by the pool bar and have a cocktail, or three. After talking to one of the barmen, we found that there was a road which all the locals went to full of restaurants. Figuring this would be cheaper, we got ourselves sorted and headed out.

Finding a little Thai place we got comfy and sat down for what turned out to be the most delicious meal of the holiday. Panang curry and Thai green curry with a huge jug of Tiger beer. We were happy and sat chatting to the manager for ages. Such a lovely guy!

The rest of the night is a little blurry and after meeting some other English speaking people in a tavern, seeing 5 o'clock in the morning was no surprise.

The next day was a little fuzzy round the edges but sat by the pool in 32°c heat soon sorted it out.

We pretty much had the pool to ourselves for the majority of the day and it was so hot, the cold was just what we needed.

On our last day we went for a wander in the Macao central, taking the free shuttle bus over the bridge we went to see what we could find.

Safe to say, not a great deal. Buuuuut then we hadn't really looked into it too much, being there for four days, we were happy to sit and do nothing in the nice weather.

We found the Ruins of St Paul. It was a wall as far as I could tell. But hey, we went to see it, we sweated in places we didn't know we could sweat and then we went and got ice cream.

The casinos were cool, we visited a few different ones and won a little bit of money to come back with so that was a real bonus. We ventured into the Venetian and the Parisian which you can see in Las Vegas and they were exact replicas! Seeing the Effiel Tower and not being in Paris was crazy!

This holiday was an incredible experience, staying in a 5* hotel and being around all that money is something I'm certainly not used to. If I could change one thing, I would've made more of an effort to see Hong Kong as I've heard amazing things but hey it's a long way to go for just four days and we were tired so I'm not going to complain.

Spending time and getting away with my boyfriend was amazing as well. Our first holiday together and we didn't argue! Result! I'll probably go on more with him after this one 😉

I can only recommend Macao and the JW Marriott over and over again. Incredible staff, beautiful hotel and just an experience to behold.
